The metronome for working musicians

Time you can trust.

When the count-in matters, the click has to be right every time. GroovePilot’s is.

02 · How time is kept

Timer or audio clock: who decides the beat?

Only the audio clock decides when a beat happens.

A software timer

  1. Timer
  2. “play now”
  3. Late wake-up
  4. Jitter
clicks off the grid

Many metronome apps decide “now is a beat” with a timer or an animation loop. Those wake up late whenever the phone is busy.

The audio clock

  1. Audio clock
  2. Sample position
  3. On the grid
clicks on the grid

Only the audio clock decides a beat. The screen, flash, pendulum and haptics read the timeline. They never decide a beat.

03 · Tight timing

Tighter than you can hear.

The biggest timing error we measured is about 500 times smaller than the smallest difference a trained drummer can feel.

04 · On stage

Built for dark stages and sweaty hands.

Change the tempo with a swipe of your thumb anywhere on the screen. Tap it in, or type the exact number. The beat flashes across the whole screen, so you can see it from the drum riser.

Accents your way.

Mark beat one, or set up any bar from 1 to 12 beats.

Three click sounds.

Woodblock, Beep or Tick. Pick the one that cuts through your band.

It keeps going.

A phone call, Siri or a pulled headphone cable won’t stop the click.

Plays next to your tracks.

Run backing tracks in another app and the click keeps running alongside them.

05 · Apple Watch

Feel the beat on your wrist.

With in-ears in, on a loud stage or in a silent practice room, the watch taps every beat on your wrist. It runs on its own, so the phone can stay in your bag. GroovePilot sends each tap a little early, so you feel it right on the beat.

  • Set the tempo with the Digital Crown.

  • It keeps tapping with your arm down and the screen off.

  • Change the tempo on the phone and the watch follows.

06 · Find the tempo

What tempo is this song?

Tap along, or let GroovePilot listen to the band or the record. Send the tempo straight to the metronome with one tap. If it hears half or double time, switch with ×2 or ÷2.

07 · Toolkit

Everything you look up mid-gig, in one app.

Chords in any key.

Transpose for the singer, with capo tips.

Circle of fifths for keys and relative minors.

Camelot wheel for DJs mixing in key.
